Treatment Approaches

My goal is to provide services to individual adults using specialized treatment approaches, allowing the client and I to choose a therapeutic approach tailored specifically for them.

  • Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)

This evidence-based approach considers OCD to be a reasoning disorder that results in obsessional doubts and compulsions. I-CBT achieves symptom relief by teaching clients to rely on their five senses and present moment experience. Through this approach, clients learn to trust themselves and what they know to be true rather than imagined possibilities. This treatment offers recovery without prescribed exposures.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in which an individual confronts unwanted, distressing obsessional thoughts, urges, or images. During exposure, the individual does not engage in repetitive compulsions to reduce the associated discomfort. Through this process, the individual experiences a reduction in distress and/or learns that the associated level of fear is unfounded.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is another type of empirically-based CBT that focuses on living according to one’s values while using acceptance and mindfulness strategies to improve psychological flexibility.
