The loop of unwarranted, distressing anxieties can be extremely disruptive to day-to-day living. Effective phobia treatment can significantly reduce symptoms and allow patients to resume enjoying life. I have the knowledge and enthusiasm to assist clients in enhancing long-term functionality and reclaiming their lives thanks to my 25 years of experience and specialized training in treating phobias.
I earned my Master's of Science in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University in 1998, and I'm a, member of the International OCD Foundation. I’ve worked at a number of sites, governmental and private, throughout my lengthy career, but private outpatient counseling and psychotherapy remains my first love.
Telehealth has made it simple and easy for counselors and patients to connect from the comfort of their own spaces. No matter where you are in the state of Georgia, I can provide my counseling and psychotherapy services to you.
Many people suffering with OCD receive mental health treatment for years before receiving an accurate diagnosis and proper therapy. I provide assessment and evidence-based treatment that allow clients to live their lives fully.
Whether you experience generalized or social anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias, or other anxiety disorders, I provide specialized therapy to facilitate symptom improvement and fuller engagement with life. As your therapist, I’ll teach you new skills and coping mechanisms you can use daily.
My goal is to provide services to individual adults using specialized treatment approaches, allowing the client and I to choose a therapeutic approach tailored specifically for them.
This evidence-based approach considers OCD to be a reasoning disorder that results in obsessional doubts and compulsions. I-CBT achieves symptom relief by teaching clients to rely on their five senses and present moment experience. Through this approach, clients learn to trust themselves and what they know to be true rather than imagined possibilities. This treatment offers recovery without prescribed exposures.
Exposure and Response Prevention is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in which an individual confronts unwanted, distressing obsessional thoughts, urges, or images. During exposure, the individual does not engage in repetitive compulsions to reduce the associated discomfort. Through this process, the individual experiences a reduction in distress and/or learns that the associated level of fear is unfounded.
